Five Things Steve Wouldn’t Tell About Windows 7

Ed Bott from ZDNet has outlined five things that Steve Ballmer wouldn’t tell about Windows 7 and they are:

1. “Some of you are going to hate our new OS, no matter what we do.” – I agree on this and there would always be detractors no matter what. Who cares? Microsoft is still going to run away with a few billion dollars of revenue each year. Seriously, I also agree on Ed that the important thing is pleasing more people than the detractors.

2. “Good luck finding drivers for all your old XP-only hardware.” – This has always been the scenario in every version of Windows. Microsoft should instead focus on the best selling hardwares and make sure they work on the new operating system.

3. “We’re still at the mercy of our clueless OEM partners – and so are you.” – I think every OEM should be given a certified examination for their competency to make sure they do not screw up installation.

4. “It might be years before we have a killer application for Vista or Windows 7.” – The cloud Azure and an application that seamlessly takes advantage of that could be the next best thing from Microsoft.

5. “Our licensing terms are as hopelessly confusing as ever.” – this is a good laugh. Enough is said.
