No Windows SP1 in the Near Future

I know a number of people who are holding back from buying a new computer until Windows Vista SP1 is released. I have reported that Windows Service Pack 1 is due for release on July 29. Things have changed and Microsoft spokewoman told InformationWeek that the reports were inaccurate.
The windows vista service pack release is set within the year without hints for its date. Is Microsoft delayed and actually pushing the timeline from July 29 to an unknown date? I hope it is worth the wait.
Don’t wait. We are very satisfied with our DELL / Vista boxes.
