This cool download is reported to save your battery life by as much as 70%. Wow? I have not tested it yet as I have no problems staying disconnected from the power supply.
The software simply lists Aero User Interface and Sidebar Activity as the features to disable when the AC cord is unplugged. It is said that these two interfaces drain the battery mercilessly. This software is a great because it automatically disable features instead of you forgetting and remembering to turn it off manually when you’re battery is almost drained.
Download the software here.

hmm, if you plug AC back in Aero is not enabled again, I need to reboot to get Aero back, I cannot even manually enable it!!
I had the same issue. I uninstalled it and then realized that as much as I liked the Sidebar and Aero, I like RAM for applications more!
Tris — yup, aero looks good at first but it doesn’t add up productivity in the long run.
Aus, check the setting in the power saver option. It should say it automatically adjust the settings based on AC status.
Other interesting thing I’ve found is that when my machine is set to the High Performance power plan, it has trouble going to sleep. But on Balanced … music and movies don’t play as well. Sigh.
