Introducing Taskbar Overlord

Do you want a more efficient Windows 7 taskbar? The middle click of your mouse on a taskbar icon opens up a new instance of the application which is can also be done using Shift + Click. A new functionality of the middle – click could allow you to close open applications. This can be done via the script called Taskbar Overlord. I would guess the author of this script is a big fan of Starcraft, the Overlord in the zerg race.
Anyways, aside from the middle-click, the script can also allow you to switch to the last window you used via the left-click button.
The Taskbar Overlord is available for free and works on Windows 7.
Go ahead and download your Taskbar Overlord.

Vista provides stability to Windows 7

Windows Vista was not widely adopted because of bad economy timing for Microsoft? Aside from that aspect, Windows Vista was toted to have major security improvements that was far more superior than Windows XP.
But instead of actually upgrading to Windows Vista, a lot of businesses felt that Windows Vista was just Windows XP SP2, or SP3. They didn’t see Windows Vista as the successor to their current XP operating system but wanted to wait for service packs of Windows XP. They went ahead and installed security hardening applications in their Windows XP environment instead spending a lot more on a new operating system.
Windows XP was successful because the codebase of that operating system is Windows 2000 which was already successful and stable to enterprise users.
Windows 7 is said to be the operating system that Windows Vista was supposed to be. The codebase of Windows 7 is Vista and all indications show that the operating system is bound for success.

Best Buy Windows Vista Memo

Best Buy had grudge over Microsoft Windows Vista and the memo they circulated to their employees show their gripe. The sub-par sales of Windows Vista compared to Windows XP was felt by vendors and retailers like Best Buy alike.
The memo circulated by Best Buy to their employees talks about how different Windows 7 is compared to Vista. Vista in their memo was an operating system labeled as “just works program”.
The items in the memo explain the following:
1. Best Buy introduce the Technology Guarantee starting June 26 where consumers buying a PC with Windows Vista Home Premium, Business or Ultimate would be given free upgrades to Windows 7 when it launches on October 22.
2. Individual software purchase of Vista Home Premium, Business, and Ultimate would also qualify on the Technology Guarantee program.
Clearly, Best Buy doesn’t feel any love on Windows Vista and they are preparing hard for Windows 7. Would Windows 7 end up big for the retail company?

The Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor allows you to test the configuration of your personal computer and determine it’s compatibility and capability on running Windows 7.
Download Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and the information you need is easily generated by the system.
The upgrade advisor can be maximized on Windows Vista since Windows 7 release candidate allows you to upgrade operating system. Windows XP on the other hand requires you to make a clean install on your system.
The upgrade advisor requires .NET 2.0.
Windows 7 this Christmas Season

Put aside some money for Christmas as strong speculations indicate that Microsoft is pushing for a Holiday release of Windows 7. The release candidate of Windows 7 is looking good and we are still months away from the holidays. The way Microsoft is going from the release of Windows 7 builds to RC, it is clear that they are pushing this operating system out the door before year ends.

There were lots of apprehension on the upgrade from Windows XP to Vista before but I don’t think this is going to be the case for the latest operating system. Windows 7 is Vista featues with XP performance.

Resizing Windows Vista Partition

GParted is the famous resizing utility from Linux. GParted Live CD can actually be used to manage your partitions in Windows Vista.
There is a catch however; your Windows Vista wouldn’t be able to bootup once resized or touched by the GParted utility. To recover your Vista operating system, you need to bootup Windows Vista installation DVD. The installation DVD would recognize the problem and fix your box.
I only recommend doing this for experiment’s sake and not use it on your primary computer.
The GParted utility is found here.
Window XP Outlive Vista?
April 8, 2009 by Milo Riano

By now, everyone is aware that the biggest competitor of Microsoft Windows Vista is it’s predecessor, Windows XP.
With the release of Windows 7, enterprise businesses are expected to skip migration to Windows Vista and wait for it’s successor.
Currently, Windows XP’s market share is 62.85 and shipment of the operating system would continue on netbooks. Given the explosion of netbooks, it is more likely that XP would live longer than Vista.
Does My Device Working in Vista Work on Windows 7?
April 5, 2009 by Milo Riano

When Windows Vista came up many hardware devices did not run correctly on the latest operating system. Until Windows Vista SP1, users were not pleased with the earlier version of Windows Vista. Here comes Windows 7. A lot of folks are wandering whether they would encounter the same problem with the upcoming operating system.
Simply put, everything that works correctly in Windows Vista should work correctly in Windows 7 given that the code base of Windows 7 is Vista. Microsoft has also improved Win 7 by making sure that applications and devices that run on Windows XP but did not run on Vista would run in Windows 7.
Initially, Microsoft marketed that leaping from Windows XP to Windows 7 is more problematic than incremental upgrades from Windows XP to Windows Vista followed by Windows 7. The latest move of Microsoft which made sure that devices not running in Vista would run in Windows 7 makes the leap easier and logical.
