Attack Power Vs. Spell Damage

One thing still bugs me about the way casters do their damage as opposed to the classes that rely on attack power. I play a mage as a main character and I never really thought about it while leveling up. It’s the fact that there isn’t a stat that increases the damage of our spells. Sure more intellect means higher chances to crit with spells but it still doesn’t increase the damage. The only way to increase our damage through gear is to get some with the +spell damage gear which you don’t really get at low levels.
The classes that rely on attack power though can simply stack on strength and/or agility. Such was the case when I realized my hunter alt was doing more damage at low levels than the abilities normally do. I guess this is why casters are wishing that the intellect stat also increased spell damage.

I was talking about this just the other day. I hate that we don’t have a stat that increases our spell damage. I guess they think we’d be way too OP, but I agree it’s annoying.
Priests can invest in the improved divine spirit (Disc.) talent points, which increases damage and healing to up to 10% of their spirit. And/or in spiritual guidance (Holy) which increases damage and healing to up to 25% of their spirit.
That’s +35% damage/healing linked to spirit right there.
But granted, there’s no stat that increases spell power regardless of talent point distribution.
Yeah druids and mages have the lunar guidance and mind mastery talents respectively to increase their spell damage by a percent of their intellect. But as far as increasing them by stats alone, they really don’t have a way.
RU Kidding me? I’ve been hit by 5k+ Crits & 3k+ hits from Mages & Locks frostbolts & shadowbolts. (354 Resilience for reference) Mortal strike, slam, heroic strike is no where remotely near that kinda damage even with maxed out AP. Spell caster dps is already fine (if not on the OP side), no need to make it completely broken by giving yet another option to do even more insane amounts of damage. Take a look at your talent trees, the damage buffs are already hands down superior to AP based classes. Pls consider class balance when making these kind of posts.
i think that it is weird that u get no spell dmg frm intellect but srsly u dont need more spell damage u greedy mages/locks!
if they continue to nerf the casters the least they can do is up the value of our armor or give alot more stamina. yeah we’re op’d we cant take the beating like say a warior or death night can so we need the spell power to compete. there has to be an even trade off some where. then there are druids and shawmans that are doing insain amounts of damage and no one is saying anything about it instead of nerfing the clothies hit the leather wearers for a change
I Agree their should be a Stacking way for Mages / Locks / Priests / Moonkins to Stack Spell damage pre 60, as with Twinks / Low Levels Melee have a Certain Advantage .. either that or Add some Low Level SP Gear .. this way the Balance should be even no matter what level
