Attunement Requirement To Onyxia’s Lair Will Be Lifted

Everyone who has done the quest chain to get the Drakefire Amulet to gain entrance into Onyxia’s Lair, especially if it was done before the Burning Crusade expansion came out, knows that it’s quite a b*tch to do, It’s long and annoying for both the Horde and the Alliance even if both chains are different. At least for me, it seems to be the longest and most annoying attunement/keying process I’ve ever done.

Revisiting the old raid dungeons has become quite popular for bored guilds to do especially to show players who have never seen them before what it was like. While doing places like Zul’gurub, Ruins of Ahn’qiraj and even Molten Core (since the attunement process simply requires a quick run through Blackrock Depths) are great, Onyxia’s Lair has always eluded a lot of these bored guilds since the attunement process is so long, it’s not worth doing anymore. In my case, my mage got attuned in the pre-TBC days but never got to see the place until I was invited a few weeks ago by old friends. We were able to take her down with 8 men. As for my other characters, I was resigned to never being able to bring them there… until I heard the latest news announced by Blizzard poster Valnoth!

The attunement requirements for Onyxia’s Lair have been lifted. The Alliance quests had to be removed due to King Wrynn’s return. As I said in the quest forum, we’ll try and come back to this one and adjust the questline to work with the current timeline. That won’t happen for launch.

I was wondering why Blizzard wasn’t easing up on the Onyxia key quest chain even when they made entry into Karazhan much easier, being able to get in even without doing the chain chain to get the Master’s Key, as long as someone in the raid has the key. Well now they finally did and this is good news for all those people who want to see Onyxia and never have.
