Ghostcrawler Sheds More Light On Dual Specs

Ever since the announcement of the dual spec feature, we’ve always wondered about exactly how it would work out. We knew the basics – being able to switch back and forth between specs with no further cost. We were kind of left in the dark for whatever more we wanted to know. With the dual spec feature already coming by the next major patch, it’s about time we got some more to feed our curiosity. Ghostcrawler sheds some more light on the matter in the interview conducted by CM Nethaera entitled Talent Dual Spec Q&A featured in the World of Warcraft Community Site. Below are the highlights of said feature.

Dual specs will only be available to players who reached maximum level

This means you have to be level 80 before you can use the feature, which sort of puts a damper on our plans to use a leveling friendly build for leveling and say a tanking or healing spec for groups at least for classes that switch roles. I’m curious at the fact that he said “maximum level”. Does he hint that when the level cap is raised once more in the future, we’ll need to get to that new cap to use dual specs again? Ghostcrawler also mentioned that they might expand it to lower levels in the future if they see it’s a popular feature.

Players need a lexicon of power to switch specs through Dual Specs

So it’s not what we thought or at least what I thought. I thought we’d be able to toggle between specs freely with the press of a button. Knowing Blizzard, i should have known better than to think that. Players will have to go to the major cities to switch specs at the lexicon of power or use the item below.

Inscribers will be able to make an item that can summon a lexicon of power

This item can be bought by anyone but needs a ritual of several players to summon the lexicon. It’s still not determined whether this item will be reusable or consumed.

Necessary things also change when you switch specs

They have devised a way so that when you switch specs, the necessary glyphs, action bars, and gear also change with it.

Talents won’t be saved until you save them

With the feature, we can say good bye to the days of having to respec because you accidentally clicked the wrong talent while assigning your talents. We’ll be able to freely assign and reassign our points like in a talent calculator until we eventually save it as the spec we want.

There you go. those are the highlights of the interview. if you want to see the whole thing then just click here.
