Interesting minor changes in patch 3.1.2

The Equipment Manager feature is the highlight of the upcoming minor patch but patch 3.1.2 seems to have a bit more interesting changes to look forward to. I talked about the Equipment Manager feature and the new Argent Tournament mount designs that are coming in a previous post but there are also some class changes in the works They aren’t really big changes some of them are really worth noting.

The first thing that caught my attention was the one that affected me the most. Druids are getting a buff to the spirit based spell power bonus they get from Improved Moonkin Form (up to 10%/20%/30% from 5%/10%/15%). I play balance as my secondary spec and use it mostly to do dailies or if have really have to pvp like for Children’s Week. More damage is always good.

Paladins get a curious change to their Blessing of Wisdom and Greater Blessing of Wisdom. It got buffed to give 92 mp5, a 1 mp5 increase from its current version. This is so that the shaman Mana Spring Totem will no longer overwrite it. In the past they made made it give the same amount of mp5 and not make them stack so they can be interchangeable and give groups more flexibility. Making Blessing of Wisdom better but (I assume) still not stack with Mana Spring Totem gives Blessing of Wisdom a distinct advantage. I can already imagine the tears being shed in the shaman forum about this.

After all these years, they’re now finally changing the warlock Sacrifice ability for Voidwalkers. I can see why this change is pretty cool but I can also think about why this change could suck a bit. Basically, instead of “killing” the Voidwalker, it just loses part of its health to give the same shield effect to the warlock. This is really nice since you don’t need to keep re-summoning your Voidwalker every time you use it, but now it has a 1 minute cooldown. I guess you just have to make sure you don’t get into trouble for one minute after you use it.

It also seems like Glyph of Conflagrate was redesigned and what a strange change it is. The way I read it, instead of no longer consuming an immolate or shadowfame, it now gives a 10% spell damage bonus to your destruction spell for 20 seconds when your immolate dot timer is at 5 seconds or below. What I find funny about this effect is that conflag works on both immolate and shadowflame but the glyph effect only works on immolate. Also, the effect only works if immolate is at 5 seconds or below so what happens if you use conflag when it’s above that? In both situations, the way I understand the glyph effect, it doesn’t do anything at all!

You can find more about the changes in patch 3.1.2 here and as usual all the latest PTR patch notes can be found here.
