New 5 man content coming in future patches

Right now a lot of people are busy trying to work their way through the Ulduar raid dungeon but before we know it time flew so fast and we’ll already be experiencing the rest of the major patches that are still to come. I mean it seems like it yesterday when we were roaming around the Isle of Quel’danas doing dailies for the Shattered Sun Offensive and looking for groups for Magisters’ Terrace, awaiting the release of the Wrath of the Lich King.

Speaking of patches and the Magisters’ Terrace, CM Zarhym has some words for us. For some of us, it’s probably not much of a surprise and quite expected really.

New 5-player content is in the works for upcoming patches, including what can probably be compared to Magister’s Terrace. We’ll provide more information when we’re ready to present previews of this content. source

Based on his statement it seems like there could be more than one 5 man dungeon that’s in the works for the upcoming patches. For the casual group of players who rely on heroics for most of their game play, this is good news. I’m curious to see how players will receive the inclusion of a new dungeon or two. It will probably be great for alts and other fresh level 80’s but making raiding easier for smaller guilds by allowing 10 man versions for all raids could make getting gear less of an issue than it was in TBC. I’m sure we’ll all do it for the challenge and the content anyway especially for the MgT equivalent dungeon.

If I had to guess I’m pretty certain this MgT-like dungeon would be part of the Icecrown Citadel. It’s only fitting that the hardest 5 man dungeon for this expansion would be within the lair of the Lich King himself. It would really be a shame if Icecrown, of all places, won’t get a 5 man dungeon. Sure it’s already quite crowded with the Argent Crusade, Knights of the Ebon Blade and the Argent Tournament but that place needs a dungeon real bad.

I already have some ideas about who we might find in this Icecrown 5 man dungeon and I admit that some of them came from discussions in the official forums in the past. It’s possible that we might encounter Anhylde who we see raising Ingvar the Plunderer in Utgarde Keep. We could also find out the fate of Bolvar Fordragon and Saurfang the Younger, both of whom I’m sure are members of the Scourge now. Of course it’s also possible that we’ll see them in the raid instance, not the 5 man. We could also encounter Dr. Terrible from the quest The Sum is Greater than the Parts since he did swear he’ll rise again and he’ll have his revenge. I highly doubt we’ll see Kael’thas Sunstrider risen as a member of the Scourge despite jokes that death was merely a setback and a comment by CM Zarhym in the forums.

The bottom line is that we’ll have new stuff coming and that’s usually a good thing!
