Raid Dungeons Will Drop BoE Items In Wrath

Blizzard poster Verimonde confirmed that raid dungeons in Wrath of the Lich King will drop items that are bind on equip. This was mentioned in response to a speculation that something that dropped from 10 man Naxxramas in the beta might be bugged since it was BoE instead of BoP.

This is certainly nice news since the last time BoE epics dropped in a raid dungeon was back in the pre-TBC days when some pieces of the T1 sets from Molten Core were BoE. Back in the day, you would see some of those pieces in the Auction House from time to time. But because they were restricted by class, it didn’t really have a big impact that they were BoE instead of BoP. But with the spell power change and the coming dual spec feature, having some BoE epics dropping from raids could mean that even if no one present in the raid wants that item, it probably won’t go to waste since it could be given to a lesser geared guildie who wasn’t there or to an alt or even sold by the guild in the auction house.

It’s certainly interesting to see how this will play out!

Well, yes and no. BoEs have been dropping from trash in BC, but not from dungeon bosses until the outdoor boss loot tables became BoE.

Current 3.0+ BC has plenty of BoE epics now, and I’m glad they’re deciding to keep it. Their point is it will be a way for raiding guilds to make money. True. In addition, it allows non-raiders ways to gear up, and allows raiding guilds to reward players that couldn’t make a raid but are valuable members or to gear up alts. I raid BT/SWP with three toons right now. On our last Illidan kill I was on my rogue in case of glaive drop. The Skull dropped instead which would have been nice on my lock. If it were BoE it would have been good for me and good for my guild.

I agree….It pains me to have a bank full of shards and an alt in blues. I’m also waiting for an inscription that makes a BOP to a bind to account. It would be nice to share some lvl 60 epics that are collecting dust in my bank with a new alt.

I agree with both comments and I think it is a good idea. I hate sharding stuff when I know that person who couldn’t make it, got left out of the current raid, or is playing say their alt healer since the raid was short, could have used it instead.
