Heirloom XP Bonus In BG’s

Heirlooms are such great things for leveling alts because it does two cool things. It scales with your level so need not constantly find a replacement for the slot that you’re using an heirloom on. But more importantly it gives XP bonuses for your character while leveling up and the effect stacks with other heirlooms. If you have an alt you’re seriously leveling and you have some spare emblems lying around, it should be a worthwhile investment.
Right now the heirlooms state that they increase the experience gained from killing monsters and from completing quests. So it’s actually not that surprising …read more

Blizz Aware of XP-Off BG “problem”

Blizzard never really endorsed the practice of twinking characters in the past but was something they just tolerated. For those who don’t know, twinking is the practice of playing a really beefed up low level character for PvP at lower levels of the game with the best gear and enchants you could have. The new feature from patch 3.2 that allows one to level up through BG’s has become a problem for twinks though.
Blizzard didn’t forget about twinks when they released the feature to gain experience from Battlrgrounds, They did provide a feature that allowed players to turn off their …read more

Lowbies will now always get BG Dailies

As usual it’s not too surprising for me to miss out on something especially when it comes to patch notes and additions to the PTR. But at least now I caught it early enough, since the PTR is still up. Patch 3.2.2 is looking like a pretty good patch especially considering it’s a minor patch ushering in the Onyxia revamp, which is something you’d probably see in a major content patch rather than a minor one.
The entry that I saw only now is something concerning lowbies and the Battleground daily quests. I’m not a big fan of PvP and most …read more

Coliseum and Isle of Conquest Q&A Released

We’ve seen Q&A’s for both the Crusader’s Coliseum and the Isle of Conquest battleground but here’s a joint one that answer some new questions. Instead of Ghostcrawler, the following people will be answering the questions this time: Game Director Tom Chilton, Lead Encounter Designer Scott Mercer, and Lead World Designer Alex Afrasiabi.
Crusader’s Coliseum
To be clear, the 5 man encounter is called Trial of the Champion. The raid encounter (both 10 and 25 man) is called Trial of the Crusader while the heroic mode of this encounter is called Trial of the Grand Crusader.
Trial of the Champion should roughly on par …read more

Measured Battlegrounds Being Worked On

There’s some talk right now in the forums about a system for Measured Battlegrounds because Blue poster Crygil admitted it’s something the development team is working on. As usual they don’t have a time table for this feature, which means that it would probably be a while before we can see it.
What is Measured Battlegrounds? I’m actually not sure exactly what it is but I seem to have an idea based on the discussion going on in the forums.I guess the vagueness also comes from the fact that we don’t have a system in place to define it. This is …read more

Battlegrounds Q&A Released

Blizzard recently released a Battlegrounds Q&A where the Lead Content Designer Cory Stockton talks about some of the things the development team has in mind for the future. The two main discussion points involve Battlegrounds and participation during the leveling process and the upcoming Battleground, Isle of Conquest.
The big thing that’s coming in patch 3.2 concerning Battlegrounds is that they’re going to make experience gain in battlegrounds available. This way players can do some leveling up by doing just battlegrounds, although at a slower rate than if you were to go out and quest. Experience gain will be not be …read more

Strand of the Ancients randomizer in 3.2

For all those people who love to do Battlegrounds while playing World of Warcraft, CM Zarhym has some good news to tell us all. This news concerns the latest battleground in the game (at least until patch 3.2) Strand of the Ancients. The “coin toss” at the start of every fight to determine who starts out on defense on who’s on offense will correctly be implemented in patch 3.2.
Blizzard has said that they really intended Strand of the Ancients to make sides random but what they did just caused some bugs so they fixed it at Alliance starting out on …read more

New Battleground In The Works For WoTLK

I’m not a big PvP fan and in fact, except for one or two times checking out Wintergrasp, I actually haven’t done any PvP at all since the Wrath of the Lich King expansion came out. Nevertheless, something PvP related caught my attention just a few minutes ago after reading one of CM Zarhym’s responses in the official forums.
Zarhym was talking about how they never really expected Arenas to become the more central focus of PvP for players and also how BG’s, unlike Arenas, aren’t really a good measure of PvP skill. He’s quite right since you can get great …read more
