Cataclysm could make some quests feel odd

A while back I mentioned that I was was going to wait for the Cataclysm expansion to make my Shaman alt so that I could be a Goblin. Well I tried waiting for a while but a really big itch to play one combined with an opportunity to play as Alliance on another server with some old friends prompted me to make a Draenei Shaman in that other server. I guess I’ll just have to settle for another class like a Priest or something for that Goblin I want to have.
Anyway, it’s while leveling up that Draenei Shaman that I …read more

World of Warcraft’s Developers Tom Chilton and J. Allen Brack just took part in a chat on Blizzard’s Twitter page. They answered questions about the upcoming patch 3.3 and the upcoming Cataclysm. A lot of the stuff that was talked you probably already know but there was some information that was new or at least old info that was touched on a bit more to give a few more details. You can find the chat in Q&A form on the WoW website here. Below are the points I feel are worth mentioning.

Baine Confirmed as High Chieftain in 3.3

One by one it seems like the items mentioned in the leak before the Cataclysm was announced are coming true or at least partially confirmed. Garrosh Hellscream was said to be the next Warchief in the expansion and that was confirmed by the article that came out in in the latest edition of PC Gamer UK magazine.
According to MMO Champion, Blizzard is preparing to add a few changes to the Patch 3.3 PTR that will basically make Baine Bloodhoof assume the title of High Chieftain, which his father Cairne currently holds. Even quests that Cairne used to handle will now …read more
More On Spell Rank Removal in Cataclysm

One of the items I remember seeing when the Cataclysm expansion was announced was the removal of spell ranks. Nothing much was really said about it except just that. With the announcement of the simplification of stats for the expansion, it’s no surprise that they are going to simplify spells by removing the ranks.
The thing that looked like an obvious advantage of the removal of spell ranks was that you’ll only need to learn the spell once and you’re set for life. The accumulated savings a player will have by not having to spend for so many ranks, especially on …read more
Profession based racials more fun in Xpac?

If you’ve seen the racial abilities for the Goblins and the Worgen for the Cataclysm expansion, you’ll see that both races have one that has something to do with professions. Profession racials aren’t new at all since a lot of other races have them like the Herbalism one of Taurens or the Engineering one of Gnomes. But you’ll notice that the Alchemy racial of Goblins and the Skinning one of the Worgen aren’t just your regular +X to a certain profession skill. Worgens also get a faster skinning speed bonus for example.
While the racial abilities of both Worgen and Goblins …read more

The latest edition of PC Gamer UK has some interesting and even shocking information about the Cataclysm expansion that might interest you. Most of it is about the story line so if you don’t want to hear about it, then don’t read what’s written below. Yes, this is a spoiler warning! This information isn’t totally new in the sense that we’ve at least heard rumors or some less detailed versions but it’s still cool to read about what the expansion has in store for us. Deathwing and interaction with players

We have yet to see patch 3.3 which will bring us the final installment of the Wrath of the Lich King story but we can already say with conviction that Blizzard has learned from their lesson with Illidan in The Burning Crusade. In TBC, only a small percentage of the players really got to see Illidan and also the bigger baddie Kil’jaeden because you had to be a raider to see them and how they fit in with the whole story. In Wrath of the Lich King, players get to see the Lich King in various stages of the leveling …read more
Cataclysm: story issues for lowbies

So far we’re doing pretty good on the story telling in the game. I mean we have the story of the original game then the developments to that story in The Burning Crusade expansion and then the Wrath of the Lich King story we’re currently seeing unfold. Going back to Azeroth in the upcoming Cataclysm expansion creates quite a problem with this story telling, most especially for someone who will be leveling a new character when the expansion hits.
This was the concern for Borex from the Steamwheedle Cartel – US realm, who posted a thread on the official forums. He …read more
More Class Q&A’s Coming
September 12, 2009 by Angelo Fernandez

Blizzard featured the many class Q&A’s in the past which highlighted some of the thoughts and plans that the development team had for the many classes at the time and also for the future. But just when it looked like it was doing good time, Blizzard released patch 3.2 and the rogue and priest Q&A’s just barely made it in time. That really did seem odd to me but I guess the release of the awaited patch became the focus of everyone’s attention so all was pretty good.
According to CM Zarhym, we should expect to see another round of class …read more
Holding off for Cataclysm

Ever since I started enjoying healing back in The Burning Crusade expansion, I’ve taken quite a bit of interest in all of the healing classes. I started with a Holy Paladin back then and now have a Resto Druid as a main. Right now I’m leveling the paladin with the intent to stay Holy and be another healer but it seems like I won’t stop there. As I think about my characters and the plans I have for them, it hit me that in an ideal situation I’d like to have a Restoration Shaman and a Holy Priest as well.
