argent tournament weapons

I already marked my holy paladin as the next alt I’m going to level to 80, which I will do once my warlock gets geared decently to run at least heroics and maybe even Naxx acceptably. Already excited about the prospect of getting a cool epic weapon for my holy paladin when she gets to 80, I started looking for the weapon I’ll get from the Argent Tournament. I was quite disappointed to find out that there was no real obvious option for them. The obvious choice would be spell power mace with some haste or crit and maybe some mp5. What they have as far as a healing weapon is concerned is the spell power dagger which is a wrong fit for holy paladins for 2 reasons, they can’t use daggers and it has spirit and no crit. i realized that the best fit from the weapons is the Blade of the Keening Banshee for the Horde or the Gnomeregan Bonechopper for the Alliance which is really a dps caster weapon since it has some +hit.

After giving it some thought, it seems that Elemental and Restoration Shamans don’t really have a perfect fit either as far as Argent Tournament weapons are concerned. It’s quite sad that these specs are left out. I mean it’s understandable to limit the weapons that drop from a boss because a big loot table especially when it comes to catering to specialized gear like spell power plate means that if that specific spec has no representation in a raid, it just goes to waste. But I don’t see the problem when it comes to vendors like in the Argent Tournament.

The nerf that Ulduar got last week was probably something done to get more people get some success in their progression but I assume that hard modes are exactly that. Instead of making hard modes a lot easier, Blizzard decided to give better rewards for those who have successfully done it, at least that’s the case for Ulduar 10 as reported by CM Zarhym in his forum post.

In order to better reward players for completing hard mode encounters in 10-player Ulduar, we will be updating weapon rewards from these hard mode encounters to an item level of 232 in the next minor patch. Players already with these items should see an increase in the power of these items to better reflect the new item level. source

Zarhym also mentioned that because of this change they will be raising the requirement for the Herald of the Titans achievement from item level 226 to item level 232. Now this makes me wonder why they didn’t buff the weapons you get from Ulduar 25 hard modes too. Because of this change, the Ulduar 25 hard mode weapons are still an upgrade but now less of such.

item level 239 arena weapons

Making season two gear available for honor back in the day just killed my desire to do any arena matches since I could just do battlegrounds for the gear I want. I really wanted the other gear from the newer seasons but I just didn’t want to do any matches especially when they made rating requirements for some of the gear.

I know this is an old topic but the subject of rating requirements for arena gear is still relevant even today and it just got a bit more relevant after Blizzard Poster Crygil came out with news about a change they’re implementing. It actually seems like this change is already in effect based on his words.

The current arena rating system allows more players to have higher ratings in the 2v2 bracket when compared to 3v3 and 5v5. We are preparing an in-game update that will be improving the rating system of the 3v3 and 5v5 brackets to allow all three of the brackets to have a similar number of players able to achieve ratings on par with what’s currently possible in our 2v2 arena bracket. As a result, we are changing the personal and team rating requirements for the item level 239 weapons from 2200 to 2350, but keep in mind the tooltip will continue to show the requirement as 2200 until patch 3.1.2.

This means that it’s going to be much harder for players to get these arena weapons, with the rating requirement being raised. Some teams were probably trying to get that 2200 rating just for this and now they’ll be disappointed to see it’s been raised. I guess it’s all for the best anyway since these weapons are the best pvp weapons available at the moment, being compared to weapons you can get from heroic Ulduar. If it gets too easy to obtain then the welfare epics discussion from the past may be revived because of this.
