PTR Patch Notes For 3.1 Are Up!

We’ve seen some of the changes coming for patch 3.1 (aka the Ulduar patch) when CM Eyonix posted the three part series on class changes a few weeks ago. But that wasn’t everything. The PTR patch notes for patch 3.1 are up and posted on MMO Champion and you can see a lot of other changes that weren’t listed before. The patch notes aren;t listed on the official site just yet but I’m sure they will be updated soon enough. When they do get updated, you can find the latest PTR patch notes here. For now you’ll have to find …read more

Reflection On Ulduar And Content/Loot Progression

Patch 3.1 will usher in new content in the form of a raid dungeon called Ulduar. If you’ve been to Halls of Lightning and/or Halls of Stone then you’ve gotten a peak into what Ulduar is like since those two 5 man dungeons are actually part of the whole Ulduar area just like Slave Pens, Underbog, Steamvault and the raid dungeon Serpentshrine Cavern make up the whole Coilfang reservoir area in TBC.
Ulduar will be a step up in the progression of raiding content and thus entering a new tier of gear. This is similar to entering the t5 content of …read more

Monitoring Recount As A Lowbie For Giggles

I’ve been playing the game for a long time now but I’ve only just decided to get some kind of damage/healing meter just recently. I think I’ve only had Recount for about a week now and I’ve been having some fun since I can finally monitor my performance without relying on other people. Sometimes I go monitor the numbers while I’m solo and find myself looking at the interesting numbers I get that were recorded.
Just yesterday, three of my friends who also happen to be guild masters/officers of my guild were playing their lowbie alts and seem to be having …read more

The Lich King According To A Few Outsiders

Elbonio from the Al’Akir-EU realm has started a pretty amusing thread in the WoW-EU forums. He has asked people to get their mom, dad, uncle, aunt or pretty much anyone who isn’t a gamer to draw the Lich King. The interesting thing is that they have to draw what THEY THINK he looks like since they weren’t given a picture of what our Lich King really looks like or what a Lich King even is. Elbonio managed to compile the submission at the top of the thread and even edited the drawings he got to appear on the WoTLK box.

Jeffrey Kaplan Leaves WoW

One piece of news I missed last week was that of Jeffrey Kaplan leaving WoW. For those who are only hearing about this now, Mr. Kaplan is leaving the WoW team to work on another Blizzard project, an unannounced MMO. Jeff Kaplan or Tigole as the forum people know him left in what I feel was quite a subtle manner, just posting a note on the general forums. there was no big announcement on the front of the WoW website or anything. Personally I feel like I favored Kaplan over his former co-lead designer Tom Chilton (Kalgan) so hearing about …read more

Ghostcrawler Sheds More Light On Dual Specs

Ever since the announcement of the dual spec feature, we’ve always wondered about exactly how it would work out. We knew the basics – being able to switch back and forth between specs with no further cost. We were kind of left in the dark for whatever more we wanted to know. With the dual spec feature already coming by the next major patch, it’s about time we got some more to feed our curiosity. Ghostcrawler sheds some more light on the matter in the interview conducted by CM Nethaera entitled Talent Dual Spec Q&A featured in the World of …read more

What’s Melted?

If you’ve played WoW at all today, you’ve probably encountered that server wide announcement saying “The Ice Stone Has Melted”. The question is “why does the ice stone keep melting?” and perhaps a bigger question is “what the heck is the ice stone anyway?”
According to Community MVP Freyja from the Greymane-US server, this is an unintended message meant for the Midsummer Festival that’s still coming this year. Blizzard somehow accidentally had this message running and they know about their mistake. In fact there’s a fix coming to solve this error.
These persistent ice stones, my lord! They have melted and seek …read more

Love Is In The Air!

It’s that time of the year again when hopefully everyone is feeling the love. For those single people out there, World of Warcraft made the “Love Is In The Air” yearly world event so that even you can take part of this celebration and have some fun.
This year’s Love Is In The Air is special because once again it’s the first time that we’re celebrating it with the Achievements feature and thus there’s more reason to be more active during this event. Personally though it’s not exactly my favorite world event but that doesn’t mean I won’t be taking …read more

Playing Frogger In Naxx!

Today was actually my real first time in Naxxramas and it was quite memorable. I went on my restoration druid to heal the 10 man version and I had quite a blast. I went to Naxx before on my mage who was my first toon to 80 but it was only as a filler and I had to go after two bosses. I don’t really count that as my first time. When I decided that my druid would be my real main, I took even more time leveling up and getting geared to do heroics and eventually for my day …read more

Mana Regen Nerf Details Announced

Blizzard has been talking about making some changes to tone down mana regeneration since they felt that the current mechanics are still too powerful. Finally they have the details of the changes they’re trying to implement by patch 3.1 and they don’t look too good for all healers. They say they’re doing it for balance but I doubt that anyone who plays a healer toon are pleased by any of these changes. After announcing some of the class changes for patch 3.1, which look very promising, this announcement is a huge downer.
* Regeneration while not …read more
