Varimathras Questlines Completable in 3.3

For many years starting with the game’s release, the dreadlord Varimathras stood by the side of Lady Sylvanas in the Undercity acting like her right hand man. For players who haven’t unlocked the Battle at the Wrathgate and haven’t done the battle for Undercity such is still the case. But everyone who has done it knows the fate of the traitorous dreadlord, an epic fight where you go up in arms alongside Warchief Thrall and Lady Sylvanas themselves.

This does pose a problem though and it’s something that people only realize later on. As you know Varimathras wasn’t just a sitting pretty npc in the Undercity. He was a quest giver for a few quests throughout one’s leveling journey through Azeroth. With him dead that certainly would be a problem for anyone who wants to do the quests still. Even if you had the quest in your log and had it done, you still can’t turn it in.

According to World Designer Kisirani, this problem will be addressed in patch 3.3 so anyone who still needs the quests done (possibly for the Loremaster achievement) will be able to complte them even after doing the Wrathgate and Battle for UC. What’s a bit curious about this is announcement is that Kisirani did a role playing type response where he played the part of Varimathras’ replacement for these quests who will take his post eventually and it’s signed with a “B”. Who this B is is unknown though names like Blightcaller and Balnazzar have surfaced but unlikely.

After Varimathras there’s no way Sylvanas would post dreadlord Balnazzar there (if he’s still alive since we “killed” him in Stratholme live side). Nathanos Blightcaller would be a viable option being one of Sylvanas’ heroes of the Forsaken but the Alliance have a quest to kill him so technically he’s supposed to be dead too. We’ll just have to see who this B person is and hopefully he isn’t just a nobody put there just for the purpose of quests. He should have the credentials to fill in Varimathras’ shoes.
