Move over Thottbot and WoWhead!
Well maybe not yet…
I remember the days when Thottbot pretty much was the only WoW database around. Then WoWhead came around and eventually the official WoW database,WoW Armory, came around. Even with these around, a new one has decided to step in to make some noise.
The Curse.com team decided to develop their own database called WOWDB. Since it’s still new, the entries still aren’t filled up with screen shots and comments like Thottbot and WoWhead. But being new, the site has some nice features that the others don’t have.
First of all, the home page is nice on the eyes. It’s colorful and it has a cool picture of a Death Knight on it. This would be a nice change from the dull Thottbot and less colorful WoWhead. It also has a new predictive search feature that makes searching for what you want easier. The side by side comparison feature is something I find really helpful since I often find myself going back and forth between items I’m trying to compare. The database also has a wishlist feature and a 3D preview feature to see how an item would look on a character.
Move over Thottbot and WoWhead!
I see great potential with this database with the fresh new features. It’s too early to say it right now but if this project takes off well we might very well be saying it soon.

It will be really interesting watching what will happen and if this will take off as well as WoWHead did when it was released.
yeah, features-wise WOWDB seems to be the superior database. In a matter of time, I think it could be the new WoWhead.
I think WoWDB is better. They even have predictive text. How awesome is that?
I am liking WoWDB a lot also. It seems wowhead now also has predictive text, a nice feature. I don’t really get some forums where people are bashing WoWDB saying it is a copy and ripoff of wowhead. I mean of course it is going to have similarities since they are providing us the same type of information. People need to realize a little compettion is a good thing for the end user. Wow, I could really go on and on…
I bet Mr. Thieblot would be happy to see these comments hehe
hehe, it sounds like Mr. Thieblot did like what he read.
I believe that people are bashing it because they don’t like change.
one thing I just found out about wowdb that I liked was the fact that the site’s talent calculator already has some templates for known builds of that class. It really helps someone have an idea of what a certain talent build would be like so that he/she wouldn’t have to unnecessarily post in the forums.
Impressive speed for a .net site but Table based layout, inline js and css I had a flash back to web development in 1999.
