Google Exec Killed After Nepal Earthquake Triggers Mt Everest Avalanche

Google executive Dan Fredinburg is among the many who lost their lives in the Nepal earthquake on Saturday. The earthquake, which was centered less than 50 miles from Kathmandu and had a preliminary magnitude of 7.8, took the lives of more than 1,400 people with many others still missing in the mounds of debris and rubble.

According to his sister Megan, 33-year-old Fredinburg died from a major head injury sustained in the avalanche on Mount Everest that was triggered by the tremendous earthquake.

Fredinburg was the head of privacy for Google X and also headed Google Adventure, which focuses on translating Google Street View to extreme and exotic locations around the world. Fredinburg was an avid adventure traveler as evidenced by the videos on his YouTube page and photos on his Instagram. Fredinburg previously dated actress Sophia Bush, who expressed her condolences on Instagram.
