On Friday, news spread all across the web that the front page of the Internet, known as Reddit, has been freed from the grasp of the website’s widely disliked CEO, Ellen Pao.

Pao’s time at Reddit has been marked with more than a few low points, often times resulting from her policies concerning the site, such as banning certain subreddits that do not match up with her social justice inspired ideologies, disrespecting moderators, shadowbanning those who speak out against her, and firing one of the most beloved employees, Victoria Taylor, after an AMA (Ask Me Anything) with Jesse Jackson went south.

The Reddit community has already shown massive support for Pao’s “stepping down,” and even before the news had broken, Reddit’s users had a petition on Change.org calling for her dismissal that had reached above 200,000 signatures, as well as a movement on Twitter with the hashtag #RedditRevolt.

According to the announcement posted on Reddit, Pao will remain as an advisor to the board throughout 2015, and will be replaced by its co-founder and original CEO, Steve Huffman, effective immediately.
