I’m not sure if the world was ready for the news we got on Tuesday about Planned Parenthood’s activities. We might not have been ready for it, but we were certainly ready to believe it.
Planned Parenthood has a long dark history, dating back to its very founding. Margaret Sanger, a raging racist and eugenicist, started Planned Parenthood, and her legacy can be seen in their business practices today. Their locations are primarily located in or near minority communities.
Furthermore, they operate like the mob. Women’s organizations who try to part ways with Planned Parenthood find themselves bullied and berated until they’re forced to change course. You can ask the Susan G. Komen Foundation or school teacher Bill Diss about that.
The cancer has especially metastasized within politics. Democrats and Planned Parenthood have their hands so deep into each other’s pockets that you can’t tell where one begins and the other ends. PP donates exclusively to Democrats, and thus Democrats were forced to find the nearest rock to hide under when the news broke.
Pending any curtain-dwelling wizard granting a major news organization a heart or Republicans a brain, you won’t see Democrats cornered on it, and they’ll continue to hide in the shadows regarding it.
But as much as we weren’t surprised the abortion provider would do such a thing, the thought that someone somewhere is butchering up babies to sell their parts is something hard to come to terms with. Even people who support abortion found the news sickening.
Well, most of them anyway.
The Hill attempted a misdirection by saying Republicans “seized” upon it for political talking points. Mother Jones wants you to think that this story is really nothing but a bunch of right-wing hype, and in a massive insult to our intelligence, Think Progress and Cosmo asked us not to believe our own eyes and ears and believe what they tell us to instead; a flat out denial of reality.
Amanda Marcotte, as is in her nature, Amanda Marcotte’d all over the place by throwing up every buzz word and criticism of the organization she could think of in her article. I’m sure someone will be along shortly with paper towels and stain remover to clean it up.
But I’m going to stand up and be the first to say that I think this is good.
I want, as you should, for the progressive left to do its best to defend Planned Parenthood’s actions. Let them be the kings and queens of this dung hill, and let their reputations die on it.
It takes a certain level of moral bankruptcy to be okay with what has been revealed here. Even anyone who may have invested money in (or received money from) the abortion provider would have to abandon any illusion that they’re in it for altruistic reasons in order to support something this heinous.
Let’s remember that this isn’t some back alley black market. This is the widely supported Planned Parenthood, the largest provider of “women’s health care” in the world. Also, this wasn’t some low level employee looking to make a buck under the table – this was Planned Parenthood’s director of medical services, Deborah Nucatola, talking casually about it between bites of food and sips of wine.
Furthermore, this was likely not some isolated incident. Nucatola is obviously not alone in the venture. She uses the term “we” multiple times. Unless she has a private abortion business outside of Planned Parenthood, then Planned Parenthood is providing the parts as an organization.
She had accurate details about how much certain body parts cost. How they prefer them. Which ones were more in demand than other body parts. This is an acute knowledge of a market garnered over time.
This is a business.
Every organization, every politician, every celebrity who endorses or defends Planned Parenthood is implicit in helping to facilitate this business, and they need to be made to own it. If they’re as shocked and appalled as the rest of the world is, then they will immediately withdraw any support – verbal or financial – from the provider.
There is little excuse to not hold their collective feet to the fire and make them either turn their back on Planned Parenthood or embrace it.
Republicans should be hammering Hillary, a proud recipient of the Margaret Sanger Award, relentlessly with this. Every Republican governor should be launching investigations into their state’s Planned Parenthood chapter as Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and Greg Abbott of Texas are, and any findings should be answered for by anyone with financial ties.
Under no circumstances should we let something this sick be swept under a rug already filled with scandal after scandal from the progressive left. That the corruption has even gotten this rotten doesn’t speak well for either side of the aisle.
The right, in both in media and politics, should act, and be brutal.
