On Friday, a Florida jury ordered Gawker Media to pay $115 million in the Hulk Hogan sex tape lawsuit. The jury found that the gossip site invaded Hogan’s privacy by publishing the footage of the wrestling superstar having sex with his best friend’s wife back in 2012.

Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, was awarded $55 million for economic injuries and $60 million for emotional distress.
Gawker argued that they had only “posted nine seconds of blurry sexual activity from a 30-minute sex tape” that they had anonymously received. The Gawker lawyers also argued that because Hogan publicly boasted about his sex life, it diminished his right to privacy. Apparently the jury didn’t agree.
Gawker will appeal.
