A man in Meridian, Idaho could have been robbed blind after a burglar found his way into his home. Fortunately, the family pet made sure that the thief didn’t make off with much. The funny thing is, though, that guard animal wasn’t a dog or even a vicious cat. Instead, the ferocious beast was a domesticated squirrel!
Adam Pearl first realized that something was wrong when he saw tracks in the snow around his house. Inside, he noticed that several doors had been opened and that there were scratches around the cabinet where he keeps his firearms.
After noticing that a few items were missing, Pearl called the police. “I knew somebody was definitely in here messing around,” he said. While in the home, officer Ashley Turner noticed the squirrel and asked if he was friendly. Pearl explained that the creature was well-behaved and, after discussing the investigation some more, she left in pursuit of a suspect.
That’s when things took a funny turn. Pearl told local news channel, ABC 6: “She said while she was questioning the individual he had scratches on his hands so she asked him ‘So did you get that from the squirrel?’ and he says ‘Yeah, damn thing kept attacking me and wouldn’t stop until I left.’ Nobody can believe it because who can say they have a squirrel that guards their house? Which is crazy. You can’t ask for much more than that. He is a pain in the butt, but he is great.”

That’s amazing! I’m sure Pearl never imagined that his tiny furry friend would end up being such a formidable ally. The squirrel, who goes by the name Joey, was rewarded with his favorite candy, Whoppers.
