Amid increasing speculation that former first daughter Chelsea Clinton is getting groomed by the powers that be to run for political office and continue the Clinton dynasty, the American people have one very simple request: don’t do it, Chelsea.
A new poll from Morning Consult/Politico has resoundingly proven that support for Chelsea Clinton’s political future is even weaker than support for her mother’s, with a measly 27 percent of registered voters indicating that they would like to see her run for political office. A whopping 48 percent said that they would rather see Chelsea NOT run for office, while the other quarter did not have an opinion or was unsure.
As if the numbers weren’t damning enough, Chelsea did not even manage to rile up support among a majority of Democratic respondents, with only 48 percent of them claiming that they would get behind her in a future political race. Predictably, 74 percent of Republicans vowed to oppose such a turn of events.
Factor in only 20 percent of independent voters who would back Chelsea and 48 percent who would oppose her and you should hopefully have a clear picture of her political future. No matter how much the Clintons’ handlers try to gussy up her image and sell her to the American public, they’re facing an uphill battle that won’t be easily won.
Chelsea, whose resume includes a $600,000-per-year gig with NBC News as a rookie news correspondent with no previous experience, has consistently claimed that she is not planning on running for political office any time soon. However, she has yet to definitively rule it out as an option for the future.
