“Little King’s Story” For Nintendo Wii
Little King’s Story was released this week for the Wii and it looks like the type of cartoony quest games Nintendo fans love. Some real muscle was put into developing this title since the creator of Harvest Moon (Yasuhiro Wada), art director of Final Fantasy XII (Hideo Minaba) and main programmer for Dragon Quest VIII (Youichi Kawaguchi) worked together to create it.
Of course, the story is all about a magical kingdom (only this time our hero isn’t trying to save the Mushroom Kingdom for a change!). Our young protagonist is Corobo, a quiet and shy boy who wanders into the forest and finds a crown. He soon realizes that it gives him the power to charm those around him and it’s pretty effective – he can get them to do anything he wants! I know I would love to get my hands on one of those!
Out of nowhere, a bull-knight named Howzer (who really reminds me of Waluigi in a lot of ways) shows up and tells Corobo that he has become the king of his village and, as its ruler, he must do all that he can to transform his sleepy little hamlet into the best kingdom ever!
Looking at the trailer (and screenshots) you will see that a lot of the environment and characters have similarities to those found in the Pikmin and Mario series, especially the later games like Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy (although the graphics in Little King’s Story are lower quality but are more similar to those found in Harvest Moon).
