Amelia comes out this week and I’m going to be a complete jerk and just say what I want to say – why did they make this movie?  It’s not that I don’t want to know about Amelia Earhart but something about the trailers and promos just seems off.

Twentieth Century Fox

There is no doubt about it – for the time, Amelia lived a pretty exciting and extraordinary life.  She was the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean and became an instant celebrity.  She was outspoken, bold and possibly addicted to danger.  She was married to a publishing magnate and promoter but she also had a long-time lover who was a fellow pilot.

While that’s interesting it was her disappearance that she’s most famous for.  During the summer of 1937, Amelia set off on a solo flight around the world – and was never heard from again.
