“Borderlands” Out Today!

Borderlands was released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC today and it looks pretty good.  It seems to combine role-playing gaming with first-person action and that could be a lot of fun especially when you consider the fact that the game includes a revolutionary “content generation system which allows for a near-endless variety in missions, environments, enemies, weapons, item drops and character customization.”  That includes online, single and multiplayer campaigns.

The plot takes place in the distant future in a time when people looking for a better life wander to the planets on the outer edges of the galaxy.  Unfortunately, these planets, including one called Pandora, are not all that they appear to be.  Pandora is the home of an ancient, long-dead alien civilization and, after the planet’s huge orbit slowly brings close to its sun, a once unknown and horrifying type of creature springs up and begins terrifying the colonists.

Players can engage in high-speed vehicle combat (with road-killed enemies included!) and will have hundreds of thousands of weapons at their disposal.  Sounds intense.
