Thrustmaster is releasing a series of Ferrari-licensed gamepads that are fully programmable and equipped to be compatible with PlayStation 3 and PC games. There are several designs for gamers to choose from:
- Ferrari Wireless Gamepad 430 Scuderia Limited Edition
- F1 Wireless Gamepad Ferrari F60 Limited Edition
- Ferrari Motors Gamepad F430 Challenge Limited Edition
- F1 Dual Analog Ferrari F60 Exclusive Edition
The wireless models feature 2.4 GHz technology which is very reliable. I don’t know about you but I really hate when I get some sort of wireless product and it’s got a weak signal but these will probably be pretty stable.
In the press release that I received it mentions that the gamepads offer precise control since they are fitted with an optical wheel with an automatic centering feature. Accelerating and braking should be a lot smoother because they also include dual progressive triggers. I think this is really good because I get super frustrated when I’m playing a racing game and it’s choppy.
By looking at the gamepads, it’s hard to tell what they are made of but the manufacturer describes it as having a highly comfortable “peach skin” texture on the grip.
Ferrari lovers might actually even be interested in picking up one of these as a collector’s item (especially those who love Formula 1 like I do!) to just keep in a box and have on the shelf since they are pretty sweet looking.
The gamepads will debut in mid-October 2009 and will be available at the following outlets: Buy.com, NewEgg.com, Walmart.com, Amazon, Microcenter and Electronics Expo.
