Tim McGraw Releases “Southern Voice”

Tim McGraw is releasing his album, Southern Voice, tomorrow and I’ve had a chance to preview it and I think it’s good country music.  I wouldn’t say that I was blown away but the tracks do display Tim’s consistent sound.

The song is about “the price paid for loving a woman who loves designer labels.”  Even though Nickelback has more of a rock sound, Chad is actually from Alberta, Canada where country music and cowboys are very common so it’s good to see him writing in the genre.

I’ve got to say, though, that Tim’s songs about death are starting to creep me out.  One of his most famous hits, “Live Like You Were Dying” was really well-written and was definitely thought-provoking but now he’s got “If I Died Today” and it just feels like he’s pushing it but that’s just my opinion.

Here’s the track listing:

  1. Still
  2. Ghost Town Train
  3. Good Girls
  4. I Didn’t Know It At The Time
  5. It’s A Business Doing Pleasure With You
  6. If I Died Today
  7. Mr. Whoever You Are
  8. Southern Voice
  9. You Had To Be There
  10. I’m Only Jesus
  11. Forever Seventeen
  12. Love You Goodbye
