Syfy Cancels Caprica

The Battlestar Galactica prequel, Caprica has been cancelled by Syfy. The show has just not been able to build up a big enough following to stay on air.

“The remaining first run episodes of Caprica – airing Tuesdays at 10/9c – will be removed from the schedule as of next Tuesday, November 2,” said the network in a statement. “These final five episodes of the season will be re-scheduled to air at a to be announced time in the first quarter of 2011, and will conclude the run of the series.”

If you are a Galactica fan, don’t worry. Syfy recently unveiled plans for another prequel. The network announced a new two-hour pilot for Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome, set 10 years into the first Cylon war. This prequel will be a little more action-packed than the slower pace of Caprica.

WTF, Syfy is shaping up to become my new Fox… canceling any remotely interesting show in favour of the lowest comment denominator. For the record, Caprica was the best “true” sci-fi on TV.
