I’m an impatient sort and decided that I couldn’t wait the couple of hours until Best Buy or Walmart would be open so I downloaded Sims 3 via EA’s Digital Downloader. Granted, it took four hours but I started downloading the game at 7am. By the time I had everyone down for their naps, I was ready to play my brand new game. Woo hoo!
After loading everything up, I decided to shoot some video of the Create a Sim to show you guys just how much power you have over your Sim’s appearance. The game music is loud and my voice isn’t so bear with the video. I was using my Flip Mino and had it right in front of my face so that I could get nothing but my laptop’s screen and I didn’t want to talk too loudly since I didn’t want to blow your ear drums. SO, I ended up with loud game music.
In the end, I’m pretty happy with what I was able to show you guys. Every option has a “default” and “advanced” tab. You can choose from a default face and then tweak it just like you could in Sims 2 but the “tweaks” make a lot more sense than they did in Sims 2. Clothing is 100% customizable just like everyone has been saying and I LOVE that you can now choose shoes for your Sim seperate from the pants that they’re wearing. You can even choose shoes or socks for your toddler Sims.
I haven’t gotten a whole lot of time to play with my new toy but the time that I have spent with it has left me wanting more. It annoys me to play the game with only my laptop’s mouse pad thing so once I find my mini mouse, I’ll play some more and hopefully have some awesome stuff to show you.
Guess what I’m not playing tonight.
Actually, why are you even reading this since Sims 3 launched today and you should be playing?
Yeah, you guessed it [cause you're sly like a fox]. I’m NOT playing Sims 3 right now. After all of my excitement and teasing with screanshots and all of that, I forgot to get a copy. Yup. You read that right. I forgot to buy a copy.
After the whole pre-order debacle [and I guess I should make sure that my $ got refunded to me], I’ve been meaning to reorder the game but just never got around to it. NOW, I’m left knowing that everyone else is playing it and I’m left writing about how I’m NOT playing it.
Tomorrow! Tomorrow I’m going out and getting that game. Tomorrow I’ll post screenshots of my own game and my own Sim.
Wish me luck and have fun playing. I can’t wait to hear what you think about it.
Just read that title over and over again. It’s fun. I’ll wait.
TOMORROW, folks. Tomorrow! [I appologize to the Brits. It's not my fault that I'm in the US and get Sims 3 "early".] Is anyone else on this side of the pond as excited as me? Yeah. I thought so.
Like a good blogger, I found you some more screenshots. And by “more” I mean a TON. Some are from the PC/Mac version and some are from the iPhone/iPod Touch version. I doubt you’ll care. You’ll be drooling too much.
Before you start emailing me asking about when The Sims 3 Celebrity edition is coming out, please note the word “parody” in the title.
any humorous, satirical, or burlesque imitation, as of a person, event, etc.
So, now that we have THAT cleared up, enjoy this PARODY of Sims 3. It’s funny, shows off the game well and…well…it’s funny.
Repeat after me: Torrents are illegal. Downloading a game without paying for it is illegal. Though it is fun to play something before everyone else, I’m naughty and should be punished if I’m caught downloading a game without paying for it.
OK. You can leave the whole “punished” part off if you really want to but if you do then you’re no fun.
Bloomberg is reporting some amazing numbers when it comes to Sims 3 piracy: Sims 3 was downloaded at least 180,000 times in three days. Yup. You read that number correctly. 18 with FOUR zeros in the back.
Apparently Spore was the biggest pirated game to date [also by EA] but Sims 3 looks poised to take Spore’s tin crown and stomp it.
I’m sure EA isn’t happy to have two of its games on the list of “most stolen” but the silver lining [and it's a very thin and not very shiny silver lining] is that the bootleg version isn’t complete-there’s an entire town missing. Also, EA put off releasing Sims 3 in February so that they could publicize the game more. Well, here’s a butt ton of publicity.
The complete [and legal] game will be released on June 2nd. I know that the “file sharing” won’t stop but I wonder if it will slow once the game hits store shelves?
Nah. Probably not.
I like pretty pictures. You like pretty pictures. We all like pretty pictures.
And, with Sims 3 just days away, I see no reason why I shouldn’t share every single pretty picture that I can find. That way you can stare at your computer screen and slowly wipe away the drool that’s running down your chin as you take in the freakin’ awesomeness that is Sims 3.
Pay special attention to how well everything “fits”. I’m sure these were taken on a computer with more processing power than all of my computers put together but check out the great appliances and the lighting. I basically want you to bask in the glory of Sims 3 and sit on your hands until the game comes out.
Pretty, pretty picture time.
Love, love, love this video. In fact, it might be my favorite to date.
There has been a lot of talk about “lifetime wishes” when it comes to The Sims 3 and this video does a great job of fleshing out exactly what everyone has been talking about.
And as always, it’s nice to see actual game-play and see how everything works and looks. [Ignore the French subtitles...unless you can read French.]
It’s getting close to launch time, kiddies. Only six days to go!
There’s nothing like some cute little Sims 2 toddlers to warm your heart. If you’ve been playing long enough [and you're anything like me] then you’re probably getting pretty bored with the default sleepwear that’s available to you.
Since I’m a kind soul who only wants the best for you and your Sims, I present to you an incredibly cute toddler sleepwear set that is sure to become one of your favorites.
There are no separate meshes to download and you can use the clothes even if all you have is the base game!
When I first went to SimSidekick.com I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting myself into. The Sims 2 website didn’t go into much detail as to what a Sim Sidekick was so it was pretty much the blind [me] leading the blind [my laptop].
After playing around for a little bit, I guess that it’s just what it says-a sidekick. You enter in your destination URL just like you would in the address bar of your webbrowser and you wait for your “sidekick’s” reaction to the site. You have six different Sims to choose from so if one is annoying the crap out of you then give another one a shot.
I played with it for a while but once I realized that it didn’t play well with Twitter then I closed the application.
Fun if you don’t have anything better to do for 15 minutes.
Unless you’ve been living under a very heavy and large rock then you’ve heard of Susan Boyle. She’s the rather unlikely YouTube star from Britain’s Got Talent. [Click the link cause it will blow your freakin' socks off!]
I know I’ve been posting a lot of videos but if EA wouldn’t post so many awesome videos then I could stop.
They did a bang-up job with this video and The Sims 3 version of Susan Boyle is dead on.
