Michael Jackson’s Death Ruled Homicide

I have to say that I didn’t believe this was the truth but the death of Michael Jackson has been ruled a homicide and it looks like his personal physician, Dr. Conner Murray, is going to be criminally charged.
While the development is dramatic, it doesn’t necessarily mean that he was murdered intentionally but, rather, means that he died as the result of someone else’s actions.  What is known, however, is that there were lethal amounts of drugs in Jackson’s system, including the highly dangerous anesthetic propofol.
So here’s what happened.  Michael Jackson apparently had been suffering from insomnia for years …read more

New Sean Paul Album “Imperial Blaze”

Sean Paul released his fourth studio album, Imperial Blaze, yesterday.  If you’re a fan, you’ve been waiting for this album for a while since it was supposed to be released (as The Next Thing) back in 2007 but was rescheduled for November 2008 and now, finally, it’s here.
His style of reggae is definitely danceable which is evident from his earlier hits “We Be Burnin’” and “Temperature” but he claims that he wants his music to be more about youth violence in Jamaica rather than partying.  I don’t know if I’m missing it but from the preview I heard, it …read more

Michael Jackson to Finally Be Buried

Michael Jackson died almost two months ago and, finally, his body is going to be laid to rest.  According to reports, his father, Joe Jackson, has said that the singer will be buried on what would have been his 51st birthday – August 29, 2009.  The family has chosen Los Angeles’ Forest Lawn Cemetery as his final resting place.  The cause of death still hasn’t been announced since the manslaughter investigation hasn’t been completed.

I know that in situations like this, sometimes a family needs to take a little extra time to make the final arrangements but when it gets to …read more

Chris Isaak “Greatest Hits Live” DVD

Chris Isaak performed some of his best music during a live HD session for the PBS concert series, Soundstage.  If you’re a fan, you can pick up the Greatest Hits Live DVD which was released earlier this week.
I know he’s got a decent a decent following and has put out at least 13 albums in the last 24 years but I really only remember two of his songs – “Wicked Game” from the early 90s and “Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing” which was featured on the Eyes Wide Shut soundtrack.
Either way, he does have a great voice and stage …read more

New Paolo Nutini Video: “Coming Up Easy”

Have you seen the video for Paolo Nutini’s single “Coming Up Easy”?  I hadn’t until this morning and I’ve got to admit that I actually loved it.  In the video, Paolo befriends a human-sized rabbit who seems to enjoy drinking a little too much.  The rabbit’s face is a little scary, to be honest, but he more than makes up for it with his dancing!

I hadn’t heard the song either which is from Paolo Nutini’s album Sunny Side Up which debuted in the number one spot on the UK Albums Chart when it was released on June 1, 2009.  He …read more

Beastie Boy’s Cancer Treatment Update

Adam “MCA” Yauch recently announced that his doctors found a cancerous tumor on his left salivary gland and lymph node and, since then, he’s had surgery to remove the growth.  The group had to cancel all of their upcoming promotional tour dates for their upcoming album, Hot Sauce Committee Part 1, which will be released on September 15, 2009.
The group might have missed the All Points West festival in New York City last weekend but the other acts showed that the Beastie Boys were never far from anyone’s mind with Coldplay’s Chris Martin playing “(You’ve Got to) Fight For Your …read more

(What’s the Story) Morning Glory? 2 LP Vinyl

I can remember when Oasis released their album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? back in 1995.  Of course, the huge hit was “Wonderwall” which I still hear a lot of to this day, 14 years later, but there were also some other great tracks including “Don’t Look Back in Anger” and “Champagne Supernova.”
The album was Oasis’ best effort since it stayed at #1 on the UK charts for 10 weeks and reached #4 in the United States.  It has sold more than 18 million copies worldwide, making it the third best-selling album in UK chart history!
The (What’s the …read more

Coldplay Heading to “The Simpsons”

Over the show’s 20 seasons, The Simpsons have welcomed many musical guest stars and now the yellow-tinged cartoon versions of Coldplay will get their turn.  According to MTV, the British musicians will put on a private show for Homer and Bart.
The episode will air during the upcoming 21st season of The Simpsons (no air date has been announced) when Homer wins a million dollars playing the lottery only to squander it on the private concert.
The new season will feature some other great guests including Seth Rogen, Sarah Silverman, Anne Hathaway, Neve Campbell and the late Eartha Kitt, who died last …read more

Drake Turns Down Kanye West

I know that many people can appreciate some hot looking ladies running around in very skimpy basketball uniforms but that doesn’t mean it makes a great video.  Apparently, Canadian rapper, Drake, didn’t care if people thought it was cheesy (or lame, lazy, offensive, etc…) – he claims he was just trying to be funny.
According to MTV, Kanye West offered to shoot another video for the single “Best I Ever Had” but Drake actually turned him down.  “That career move was very important to me,” Drake explained.  “We’ve done such a great job of building it all up. It’s kind of …read more
